NO-COST, 3 CREDIT, VIRTUAL CLE PROGRAM
“ATTORNEY TRUST & BUSINESS ACCOUNTING IN DETAIL”
MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2026 AT 1 P.M. (EASTERN TIME)
The Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) will offer a free virtual real-time continuing legal education (CLE) program on New Jersey trust and business accounting. The course will cover the specific requirements of R.P.C. 1.15 and R. 1:21-6 which underpin a lawyer’s responsibility to maintain funds of clients inviolate.
The program, which will take place via Zoom Webinar on Monday, October 5, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (EDT), will offer 3.0 credits in ethics/professionalism.
First Assistant Ethics Counsel Jason Saunders and OAE Chief of Investigations Alison Picione will present the program. The program will include a detailed presentation of attorney trust and business accounting responsibilities including the following areas:
• legal discussion of RPC 1.15(a) through (d);
• the obligation to supervise non-lawyer assistants including bookkeepers and accountants;
• presentation of case law governing misappropriation;
• detailed presentation of each specific requirement of R. 1:21-6;
• specific mechanics of the required three-way reconciliation;
• presentation of the most common recordkeeping issues;
• discussion of common frauds directed at Trust Accounts; and
• overview of the random audits in New Jersey.
